The XSD 310 jointer planer is manufactured as part of the X31 combination machine, and is of the same professional quality. If you are a home "hobbyist" or a woodworking professional looking for a jointer planer which occupies a very small space this could be the machine for you. The powerful XSD 310 features two machines in one and can be changed over from Jointer to Planer in less than 20 seconds. All the work surfaces are made from high quality heavy duty cast iron and the thickness planer gives a very high quality finish.

The jointer shares the same fence as the Table Saw and is easily adjustable with positive stops at 45 and 90 degree angles. Jointer tables are 55" long with a cutting width of 12". The jointer has a three knife cutter head with spring loaded knives for easy changeover. Powered by a 3hp motor, it can take a huge 6mm cut on the thickness planer. The planer makes very high quality cuts and uses the same three knife cutter head as the jointer. The planer will accept up to 12" width and 9" height. The feed speed is 20 feet per minute.

Laguna Tools NLX31 Combination Machine Overview

The NLX31 is a compact woodworking center providing the modern woodworker the LAGUNA precision, quality, liability and security. The frame is designed to maximise strength and rigidity, build of a 4 mm steel plate box-construction, holding the aluminium sliding table and the cast iron tables such as saw, spindle and planer tables (weight of the machine 1700 lbs).
The hard anodized aluminium extrusion of the sliding table is machine precisioned and features a 12" wide sliding table and an impressive 5.5" wide lower beam. The heart of the sliding table is 8 hardened steel rods, inserted into the aluminium, set in a square pattern, to guide the steel bearing balls, held in a steel ball carrier.
This makes the whole system extremely wear-free, requiring almost no cleaning. Standard cutting length is 75", optional cutting length is 98". Standard motor (3) sizes are 3 kW three phase, 2.2 kW single phase, optional 3.7 kW three phase. The machine is equipped in the standard execution with a scoring unit, driven by separate motor and a 4-speed spindle arbor (speeds 2900/4000/6000/7500). This means that even a single phase machine has got 4 speeds.
